Film Language Tag: hard matte

1. A film shot with a cropped aperture plate (an aperture mask) in the camera so that the image area on the negative does not take up the full frame. 2. A release print produced with an image mask so that the image area on the print does not take up the full frame or so that it is a different aspect ratio than the camera-original negative. Kroon, R.
