In this sequence, Annie Marshall (Bailey Spry) has just driven away from the imminent threat following her in her neighborhood. She seeks refuge at the beach where it appears she has not successfully escaped it after all.

The threat almost gets to Jay (Maika Monroe) as she is in her bedroom with her sister, Kelly (Lili Sepe), their close friend, Paul (Keir Gilchrist), and Kelly’s friend, Yara (Olivia Luccardi). Jay escapes as she takes off on a bike and pedals until she is in a park.
The Monster is Dead! Right?, It Follows
Capping off the climactic confrontation with the monster, Jay Height (Maika Monroe) escapes the pool where she was nearly drowned and recovers for a moment in the comforting hands of her friend Kelly (Lili Sepe) while her other friend, Paul (Keir Gilchrist) stands guard. Then Jay (Maika Monroe), being the only person in the group who can see the monster, must return to the edge of the pool to confirm the monster's fate.
