Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is invited to attend a basketball game with Lisa (Shari Headley), Darryl (Eriq La Salle) and Patrice (Allison Dean). At the game, Prince Akeem faces discrimination from Darryl for being an African. Additionally, he is recognized by a former African subject.
Prince Akeem Acclimates to Queens, Coming to America
Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) move to a purposefully tarnished New York City apartment to become "real" New Yorkers. The friends attempt to transition to Queens, NY by changing their formal, African clothing to New York street style – letting go of their fancier clothing pieces.
