Film Language Tag: following shot
A pan, tilt, or tracking shot that follows a moving individual or object.
Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o) confronts Red (Lupita Nyong'o) who has captured her son, Jason Wilson (Evan Alex). As Adelaide creeps up behind Red, weapon in hand, Red begins a monologue about her life as a tethered. The monologue is overlayed with images of Adelaide and Red as young girls. The twist that Adelaide was originally a tethered is revealed.
A hitman (Mark Pellegrino) attempts to stage a suicide for his mark. While doing so, he accidentally shoots someone else through the wall. He then kills that woman, but is seen by a janitor. He kills the janitor as well and shoots the loud vacuum. This sets off the fire alarm.
After Micah (Wyatt Cenac) brings her a drink, Jo (Tracey Heggins) pushes him to shower before climbing into bed. While he showers in the next room, she opens his laptop and peruses his social media history before going back to bed herself.
Shaun (Simon Pegg) makes a trip to the convenience store, oblivious to the end of the world around him.
On the way to the Santa Cruz beach the Wilson family sees a dead body. Shortly later the family arrives at the beach and, while interacting with the Tyler family, Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o) encounters multiple coincidences that throw off her ability to converse with Dahlia Tyler (Elisabeth Moss). Gabe Wilson (Winston Duke) converses with Josh Tyler (Tim Heidecker), and Umbrae Wilson (Shahadi Wright) hangs out with Becca (Cali Sheldon) and Nix Tyler(Noelle Sheldon). While the family members are distracted, the youngest, Jason Wilson (Evan Alex) wanders off, forcing Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o) to panic while looking for her son.
As Giorgio's father (Romolo Valli) seeks to reassure Giorgio (Lino Capolicchio) that Italian Jews were still citizens notwithstanding discriminatory laws against them, Giorgio reminds him of the importance of recognizing the seriousness of their situation.
